Offering a quieter alternative to nearby Newquay Perranporth is a small beach resort  having  miles of first class golden sandy beaches.  Sand yachters, surfers and sunbathers find its beaches ideal.  There is a golf course, boating lake (rowing boat hire during summer) and lovely cliff walks.  The beach is home to caves and interesting rock formations.  This is in fact a pretty and not at all built up little resort, set in lovely countryside. On either side of the village there are wild flower covered cliffs.  Immediately behind Perranporth are pleasant country walks in the adjoining hamlet of Bolingey (thatched cottages and tree lined lanes with a few country pubs).  Interestingly, among the extensive dunes, two ancient religious buildings have been lost to the encroaching sea- St Piran church Celtic monastery and the parish church.  Worth dropping into is Piran Round, just a few miles away, being an Iron Age hill camp.  There is a tourist information centre in the village.  Skydive Cornwall (on the internet) will be happy to cater for the more adventurous and there is also surf hire available next to the beach.  There is an excellent beach restaurant and in the village the huge The Green Parrot pub with restaurant and bar (children welcome), beer garden and outside seating is worth mentioning.  The village has attractive and affordable cafes, restaurants and old character pubs with restaurants and a good selection of shops. In particular walk across the beach to the surfers restaurant/cafe literally on the sand-good food at a reasonable price and both inside & outside seating.  For internet geeks have a look at Perranporth Webcam on the internet.
