Description
Great for the beach and for walkers. Trellis Cottage is in a beautiful country setting in the village of Wilcove, East Cornwall on the cornish side of the Tamar River. 2 miles from Torpoint and 2 miles from the huge sandy beaches at Whitsand Bay. Approx 4 miles from historic Plymouth and its many attractions via the Torpoint Ferry (car and pedestrian) across the Tamar Estuary. 9 miles further down the coast will take you to Looe and further along the coast Polperro. Trellis Cottage is a detached old stone cottage, one of 4 cottages on a quiet side lane in the village. A public footpath leads off from the cottage; a lovely 1 mile stroll along the footpath through fields and woods to National Trust property Antony House. Antony House is one of the top Nat Trust houses in Cornwall and has extensive gardens and a well furnished house with original furnishings and a large selection of paintings by Joshua Reynolds and other leading artists. The public may walk their dogs for free in Antony House woods (marked up) but there is an entry charge to the house and gardens. Other Nat Trust properties locally such as Mount Edgecumbe house and gardens. Other footpaths from the cottage lead to walks along the estuary. Lots of other attractions in the area such as boat trips up the Tamar Estuary to Cotele House at Calstock while Plymouth has a lot to do and see (the largest acquarium in Europe, famous Hoe & Barbican waterfront areas, the Georgian House and much more). A few miles from Wilcove are the picturesque villages of Kingsand & Cawsand and the small beach (a small boat will take you across the bay to Plymouth) and the miles of stunning walks along this spectacular coastline. In the evening walk down from the cottage to Wilcove Inn on the estuary waterfront and enjoy a drink and food in the Inns beer garden adjacent to and overlooking the water (often filled with colourful sailing boats) with great views over the water to Plymouth. There is an enclosed rear garden and patio (table and chairs).
